Uranophane, a calcium uranium silicate hydrate mineral, was first reported by Frondel (1972); it was also reported by Cook (1973). It occurs as a part of a waxy yellow material in a 3-5 mm reaction zone surrounding the well-studied crystal of Sterling Hill uraninite (HU# 113290). The identity was also confirmed by this writer. It is not known from Franklin.
