PbCu(SO4)(OH)2
Monoclinic
Linarite, a lead copper sulfate hydroxide mineral, was first reported from Sterling Hill by Cook (1973) and is not known from Franklin. It occurs as bright-blue microcrystals associated with devilline, brochantite, and gypsum. It is differentiated from azurite in part by a lack of effervescence in HCl. It has been verified by the writer on a number of Sterling Hill specimens, in association with brochantite and other species and likely formed by the alteration of galena and chalcocite or of galena and chalcopyrite.
