Fall mineral show

Every year a major mineral show is held in Franklin during early fall, typically on the last weekend in September, attracting visitors from everywhere.

Spring mineral show

The second major event in the Franklin area is the Spring Mineral Show, co-sponsored by the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society, and the New Jersey Earth Sciences Association (NJESA), generally on the last weekend in April.

FOMS - Mineral collecting trips and lectures

Field collecting trips and informative lectures are organized by the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS). These generally occur during the Spring and Fall months.

Trotter night collecting

For the past few years the DVESS has organized a special night (and daytime) collecting trip during the spring show to the otherwise closed Trotter Dump in Franklin NJ. This is a remarkable opportunity and should not be missed. For recent photos from the event, click here.
